Does Your Team Look Out For Each Other?

by | Feb 11, 2026

This week, you will be heading into your Emotionally Fit Room where you will explore some strategies you can use relating to Workplace Health.

In my book, The Powerhouse In You: How to lead with greater resilience, courage, and confidence, I talk about freedom from guilt on page 53. So many of the leaders and teams that I work with talk about how often they guilt trip themselves. Their organizations are lacking people and resources which leaves them feeling burnt out.

I think a couple of things are really important when it comes to promoting a healthy workplace. Employees need to know:

  1. That it is okay to ask for help.
  2. That they can seek our support.
  3. That they can make time to do their own self-reflection

With that last point in mind, I invite you to take a moment right now to check in with yourself. On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being low and 10 being high, where would you rate yourself in terms of how connected you feel with yourself, how confident you feel, and how grounded you feel? What number are you at right now? What number would you like to be at? What 1 action step will move your number higher?

If you find yourself scoring lower than you’d like, then it is time to H.A.L.T.E. Are you: Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired, or haven’t had enough Exercise? Which one is tripping you up? You are best able to make decisions when all five of these things have been looked after. If they haven’t all been met, are you able to defer the decision making until they have been? An FBI negotiator set a boundary with his team by saying he didn’t want to make any decisions after 1 p.m. It is estimated that we make 35,000 decisions daily. Obviously, many may seem  mundane however we reach a peak where we experience decision fatigue. What time do you hit decision fatigue? Keep that in mind and share with your colleagues and team.

I am inviting you, as an organization, to look at the emotional wellness of your organization. One way to do that is to make sure that you are talking to each other about your emotional well-being. Can you imagine the impact it would have if you gave out Permission Slips for wellness to your team? Check out the video below for real-life examples of how introducing this into your workplace can go a long way toward preventing burn out.

The bottom line is that we need to look out for one another. Give yourself the grace you so richly deserve and don’t be afraid to keep the conversation about emotional wellness going within your team and your organization.

Have yourself a heart connected day.

And remember…

You are a POWERHOUSE.
