This week is the final week of our four-part Healthy Workplace series so of course you will be entering into your Spiritually Fit Room.
I’d love for you to do a bit of an inventory of your organization. How are you when it comes to encouraging your people to fill up their cups? Some folks may say that they don’t have time to do that, which may be part of the problem. You need to create time to take stock.
This week, I am inviting you to take an eagle’s eye view as a leader and really see what is going on and what you can do better.
One of the exercises I use when doing a team retreat is around a Joy List. I encourage you to try this the next time you meet with your team. All you need to do is give them a few minutes at the start of the meeting to make a list of all the things that bring them joy and fill their cups. Then, ask them to pick one that they can commit to doing in the next 24 hours.
In essence, what you are doing is encouraging and investing in your people which goes a long way towards improving retention by promoting work-life balance. That is the kind of healthy workplace culture that will attract new talent.
It is important to have conversations with your team about what fills them up spiritually. It could be anything from going to church to acts of service to giving themselves the day off. It is becoming increasingly important for teams to work together to contribute positively to their community.
Burnout is becoming more prevalent in many of the organizations I work with. Employees are growing increasingly tired and depleted because of all of the hours they are putting in. It is really important to make sure that leaders acknowledge their teams and let them know that they matter.
This is a subject that I could talk about endlessly. I invite you to check out the video below for more strategies on how you can promote a healthy workplace from your Spiritually Fit Room. In it, you will learn the importance of breathing exercises. We will even do one together so you can see for yourself how well it works.
I would like to leave you with one final thought. Encourage your team to be present, wherever they are. Encourage them to not think about what is coming up next but rather to be fully engaged with what is happening in the present.
Have yourself a great day. I hope you get to spend some of it reconnecting with Mother Earth.
And remember…
You are a POWERHOUSE.
