The Power of Presence: Creating Mindful Moments in a Full Month

by | Feb 12, 2026

I am so excited to share with you this month’s theme, Creating Mindful Moments.

The month of December can bring more stress, more fears, and uncertainties for some along with joy, playfulness, and connection. Many people are grieving, hurting, and struggling financially along with mental or physical health issues. And they may be suffering in silence.

As you know in my book, The Powerhouse In You: How to lead with greater resilience, courage, and confidence, I talk about the importance of powering up your four rooms so you will have more energy, more confidence, more joy, and more peace. (your Mentally Fit Room, your Emotionally Fit Room, your Physically FIt Room, and your Spiritually Fit Room) This week, we are going to get right in there and walk into your Mentally Fit Room.

Whether you are a leader or a team member, think about how you can create those Mindful Moments. A great question to ask yourself is what are some of the habits or rituals you currently do in your organization? Here are some great examples:

Regular Check-Ins: This one is super important and that I am a huge fan of. I talk about this a lot with the teams and leaders that I work with. While one-on-one check-ins are important, how often do you check in as a team? Do you build in time at the start of your team meeting agenda? Often I hear that there is not enough time to do this but if you don’t make time to do it now, it will come back to your team in the form of conflict. Prevention goes a long way. A simple question of “How are you feeling, really, at this time? How can we support you? Role model it by sharing your truth. Right now I am feeling sad or frustrated or overwhelmed.

Lead By Example: Be mindful. Take that necessary pause. Don’t always feel like you have to respond in the moment. Listening is a powerful way to invite others to engage.

Have A Gratitude Practice Month: Try intentionally sharing specific appreciation 3 times per week with one of your colleagues. The shift in everyone’s energy is contagious. Our family is hosting Christmas this year and I will be inviting each family member to share what they appreciate about each other. Creating meaningful connections matters now more than ever.

I would love for you to share this with your team and what practices you have implemented.

Have yourself a mindful day.  And remember…You are a POWERHOUSE.
